This weekend I was blessed to spend time with some of my husband’s extended family, as they gathered together in Orlando for a belated wedding celebration in our honor. This is a wonderful, funny, open, and kind family, and I was extremely touched by their love and welcoming spirits. We laughed, played games, stuffed ourselves, took pictures, and truly enjoyed our time together. They even had us “cut the cake” and offered a beautiful wedding toast. Once again, I was overwhelmed by how powerful God’s hand has been in my life. The easy and instant connections I’ve felt with each member of his family are as unique and special as the person with whom they are shared.
There are so many things that seem to fall into place when I get out of God’s way and trust tomorrow to Him. My connection to this new family of mine is certainly one of the most evident. I know that the suddenness of our relationship has been difficult for some to process, which is completely understandable. Yet, even in the face of their own struggles, I’ve always been shown absolute kindness and respect. I am grateful for the chance I’ve been given to know these wonderful people, and feel honored to be a part of their lives.
