What do we get from loving each other? The simple answer is God.

What do we get from loving each other…We get to experience the most beautiful part of the divine. When you spend time with people, experiencing a genuine love for one another is like respite for the spirit. A favorite author of mine talked about the importance of relationships, especially our relationship with God.

The reality is that in order to grow, develop, and maintain relationships, we have to spend time together. If I want a strong, healthy relationship with my husband, then I have to invest time spent with him. If I want a strong, healthy relationship with anyone in this life, I have to be willing to spend time doing so. This especially holds true in our relationship with the Lord. If I am feeling isolated from God’s presence, am I doing my part in giving Him my time in prayer and the Word?

Our beginnings come from a world of perfection, and when our humanity was born, we were made for a perfect existence. However, we fell away from perfection, and ever since then, humanity has continued the search for the perfection that was meant to fill the void in our existence. We experience perfect moments and true joy, but we are not able to live in perfection, so we continue to seek it out.

Imagine the frustration built into thousands of years in search of a perfection we cannot find here in this life? We have expectations of how other people should love us, we focus on what we have to lose and the pain that we’re experiencing when our unspoken expectations aren’t met. That’s when the enemy pounces on our inherent battle with self-worth. He tells us we must not be good enough. He tells us we must not be truly loved. He tells us it’s ridiculous to think we’re enough, otherwise… Ohhhhhh the lies he tells.

I freely admit that I fear the power of the lies and the darkness. I see how easy it is to get lost. I understand what it is to fall into a hole so fast and so deep, you can’t imagine ever finding your way out. What we forget is this: the hole isn’t real and the only way out is to turn on the light and find that out for yourself. But how does one turn on the light?? The answer is simple…God. He IS the light.

When you sit back and take stock of the tools God has given you to deal with a crisis, are you using them? Are you praying – truly praying in earnest? Are you reading the Bible? Are you open to the love and guidance He makes available to you through other believers? Are you bringing out the moldy, heinous thoughts that plague your mind and shining light on them so their power over you is diminished, if not removed altogether?

If not, then maybe you should be seeking a more simple solution…

““So I say to you, ask and keep on asking, and it will be given to you; seek and keep on seeking, and you will find; knock and keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who keeps on asking [persistently], receives; and he who keeps on seeking [persistently], finds; and to him who keeps on knocking [persistently], the door will be opened.” Luke‬ ‭11:9-10‬ ‭AMP‬‬
